Data Science Foundations

The foundation of Data Science is built on statistics and computer science. Having a grounding in these two disciplines, along with seeing examples of applications to data analysis, provides the base to learn new methods and build expertise.

The Data Science Foundations post-baccalaureate certificate creates the base on which to build professional skills in data science.

Certificate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Required
  • GRE: Not Required
  • Letters of Recommendation: Not Required
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV): Required
  • Statement of Purpose: Not Required. Suggested if GPA is less than 3.0/4.0
  • Transcript(s): Required. Must be submitted for all schools attended (unofficial transcripts accepted for admissions review and must show successful completion of any required prerequisite course(s).
  • For international applicants or applicants whose native language is not English, please review the English Proficiency requirement

Prerequisite Courses

  • Programming and Data Structures (CSCI 261-262)
  • Linear Algebra (MATH 332)
  • Probability (MATH 334) or equivalent courses at another institution and earning a B grade or higher
