Garrison Hommer

Research Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Garrison Hommer is a Research Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Colorado School of Mines. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2011. In 2016 and 2018 he received his MS and PhD, respectively, in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. During his graduate education he studied dwell fatigue in titanium alloys subjected to biaxial tension-tension loads, using X-ray diffraction techniques. Between his undergraduate and graduate educations, he worked for MSP Corporation improving and documenting products for particle measurements, and for DePuy Synthes in the Quality Engineering department. He currently manages the Advanced Manufacturing Teaching Lab, The Data-Driven Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanics (DDAMM) Lab, and a variety of mechanical testing labs in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department. He also works on a wide range of mechanical testing and digital image correlation (DIC) projects.
