GIS and Geoinformatics Program

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Geoinformatics is crucial to developing the technology, policies, standards, human resources and related activities necessary to maintain and preserve spatial data. Using an interdisciplinary teaching model, Mines’ GIS and Geoinformatics graduate program gives graduate students hands-on experience in geospatial training and advanced application, and quantitative analysis of GIs and remote sensing. Graduates in this program will enhance their skills, stay ahead of the technology curve and advance their careers to become top-notch professionals and leaders in their field.

Program Requirements

Masters Non-Thesis

  1. Student  must hold a Bachelor Degree in Earth Science and provide a transcript
  2. Student should provide a resume (CV) and 2 letters of recommendation, along with a cover letter stating interests
  3. Application fee
  4. For international applicants or applicants whose native language is not English, please review the English Proficiency requirement

Graduate Certificate

  1. Student  must hold a Bachelor Degree in Earth Science and provide a transcript
  2. Cover letter stating interests
  3. Application fee
  4. English language proficiency, this  should be demonstrated (TOEFL or Duolingo online examination), or English classes completed in advance of starting the course

  • All registered students will be assessed the Technology Fee: $83 during the fall and spring semesters and $41 in the summer.
