IMPORTANT GRE INFORMATION

Given the extraordinary circumstances of 2020, GRE scores are optional for most non-thesis and certificate program applicants for the fall 2021 term. This includes applicants for the online FEA Professional certificate program.

Program Overview

The Mines FEA Professional online certificate teaches recent graduates or mid-career professionals advanced skills in finite element analysis and can help you pursue career opportunities in design, product development or applied research. Leveraging industry-leading software (Abaqus), the program empowers students with the skills and experience to drive innovation in their chosen field.

Requirements and Costs

Certificate

  • A baccalaureate degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a physical science
  • GRE scores are NOT required
  • For international applicants or applicants whose native language is not  English, English proficiency is required. Please visit the English Proficiency section of the International Graduate School Admissions site to learn more about accepted tests and minimum scores

 

Graduate Certificate 

FEA Professional requires a set of three core courses and one elective chosen from selected relevant online courses. Elective options will continue to expand as the program matures.

The student must complete the following three core courses:
  • FEGN525 Advanced FEA Theory & Practice (3.0 credit hours)
  • FEGN526 Static and Dynamic Applications in FEA (3.0 credit hours)
  • FEGN527 Nonlinear Applications in FEA (3.0 credit hours)
The student must complete one of the following elective courses:
  • FEGN528 FEA for Advanced Design Applications (3.0 credit hours)
  • AMFG521 Design for Additive Manufacturing (3.0 credit hours)
